Words cannot truly express how devastated our family has been since Frankie went missing. He may just be a dog to some, but many others understand that he is more than just a dog to us. Since day one at the meet and greet, he chose us as his family, and we’ve been with him every single day since he was 10 weeks old.
As many of you know the story, we decided to use Rover for our very first time. Not to save money, not because we didn’t believe in boarding, but because we thought he would be happier being with someone since he has never been alone. The Rover sitter said, “Someone is always home.” “I’ve been doing this for over 40 years”. “He’ll be fine and safe.” Our lives changed all because we believed in a person who we thought loved animals as much as we did and sold us on the idea that he would be safe in his care. He never told us he had a coyote den a mere 100 yards behind his house. He never told us he would feed the coyotes and give them water. He never told us he lost pets before. And he never told us that his reviews were fake reviews from people who never had him pet sit before.
Fast forward, today we are still frantically searching for him. We have reason to believe he was not eaten by a coyote, did not die from heat exhaustion, and did not “escape” as the Rover Sitter’s narrative suggests. We have offered a $2000 reward hoping that would be enough to bring Frankie home. Hundreds of people, including many animal activist groups, have been saying that our reward is too low, and many would like to contribute to increasing it. With much hesitation, we held off as long as we could because money shouldn’t be the deciding factor as to whether or not our dog gets to come home to us. So, we have decided to move forward with increasing the reward and if someone does come forward, as previously stated, no questions will be asked.
However, if Frankie is not returned, the money will be donated to Nevada Voters for Animals & The Las Vegas Trapping Girls, who have helped endlessly in this search. We will also use a portion of the funds to promote legislative changes in Nevada to regulate or outright ban Rover. Rover touts itself as a place to “Book trusted sitters and dog walkers” & “Book with pet sitters you can trust.” Rover failed Frankie. Bill failed Frankie. And sadly, we failed Frankie. We want to make sure no family ever has to experience what we’ve gone through ever again.
We want to thank each and every one of you for continuing to search for Frankie even though the result has been dismal. We are not losing hope, and we certainly are not giving up! Even through this tragedy, your support has shown us there is absolutely still so much GOOD in this world!
Love,
The Browns
