Finding Loren Project

We are making a documentary about the once in a lifetime experience of finding our family patriarch, Loren Hintz, after he was shot down and Missing In Action in Budrio, Italy days before the end of WWII. We will trace his miraculous life before the war traveling the country, meeting and falling in love with our grandmother Gert, basic training and through the war, all with the use of photos, army aircorps records, letters home and diaries that Loren meticulously kept. We will also trace the series of events that lead to grandson Hans, finding the exact location of the downed plane, 71 years after the fact, and the excavation of the site where the plane, personal effects, dog tags and Loren himself were reclaimed for our family. It remains a true to life miracle.
