Help Me Get My 200 RYT (registered yoga training)
Donation protected
Hello everyone!! My name is Tori and I am pursuing my 200 hours Registered Yoga Teaching certificate hopeful to participate in a January 2020 session.A friend overseas recommended a crowdfunding option as it is not in my current or foreseeable financial means without going into debt and that’s not a option I can consider. To be able to participate in the training starting in January 2020 we are trying to raise $4,000.00. This will cover the tuition and non-refundable spot reservation, education material, and the go fund me fees. I want to teach yoga so I can be the adult I needed as a child. The mentor I needed as a teen, and the support system I needed as a young adult. And I do not plan to stop at the 200 RYT! It is my goal to further my education into accessible yoga and trauma therapy. I plan on documenting this journey on my IG and YT account so that anyone who FELT or to this day FEELS they can’t do, shouldn’t do, to afraid to do, couldn’t do something because of their size due to fear of rejection, embarrassment, shame, mockery, fill your scary emotion here! Guess what you can!I took my first yoga class in the summer of 2017 and I haven’t stopped talking about it since. What brought me to yoga:I found out I was BRCA 1+ in May 2014. BRCA stands for “BReast CAncer gene”. Having a BRCA 1 mutation means that I have upwards of 65% chance of developing breast cancer before 70. Additionally BRCA 1+ is considered early in life onset breast cancer. Within the community I am considered a previvor. Previvor’s are individuals who are survivors of a predisposition to cancer but who haven't had the disease. The ultimate way to prolong my life will be to have a double prophylactic mastectomy and upwards of a full hysterectomy within the next 10 years. Finding out about my mutation also saved me from what could have been a devastating cancer diagnosis in the future. In 2016 as part of my monitoring I was diagnosed with melanoma in-situ on my cheek that required surgery to remove the cancer and the area around it. I would develop melanoma 2x more within the following 6 months that required more skin removal. I have thankfully been cancer free for almost 2 years. With all the medical monitoring I do and the inevitable surgeries I will have, I fell into yoga for the therapy aspect and the accessibility options to make it your practice keeps me wanting more. To have the opportunity for a chance to share my passion with others and share how yoga can be life changing is something that I will always pursue.Thank you for your contribution!
