Build a school in Arusha, Tanzania

Hello!

I am currently volunteering as a teacher at a school in Arusha, Tanzania— the school was created by Alhaji, who hosts volunteer teachers and runs the school for free for children ages 3-7. Created in 2015, his organization is focused on supporting struggling children within Tanzania by providing free education and social support. Their long-term goal is to reduce the amount of street children and poverty not only in their region, but throughout the entire country. So far their efforts have been largely successful, as most of their former pupils have achieved their goals.

In 2019, they began construction on a second larger school further away from the city to support more children— however, the school construction was unable to finish due to a lack of funds. They’ve raised $17,000 so far and are only $4000 away from being able to finish construction on the school!

I’ll be volunteering at the school with several other volunteers for 7 weeks—they have volunteers year-round and we see firsthand how sweet, loving, and excited to learn these kids are. When we went to the school, they all screamed with excitement and were all incredibly eager to volunteer to come up to the blackboard and participate. There is only one full time teacher and over 30 kids in a very small classroom, and they could use your support! Anything you can donate will help immensely, as the students are so incredibly grateful simply for the opportunity to learn.
