ARTISTS: DEPRESSION, ANXIETY and RAGE
A film by Lydia Lunch and Jasmine Hirst
73% OF ARTISTS SUFFER FROM A MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEM
I’m Lydia Lunch and along with Jasmine Hirst, we’ve spent the past two years interviewing musicians, artists and writers about their lifelong struggle with depression and the various methods that they’ve employed in an attempt to strive beyond its brutal stranglehold. The roots of depression run deep and there are many reasons for it, childhood abuse, trauma, neglect, poverty, malnutrition, genetics, chemical imbalance. And it’s never as simple as just saying existential angst.
In this documentary we strive to present hope to anyone who suffers from depression, anxiety or rage in the knowledge that they are not alone. And we are trying to present not only hope but a variety of methods with which to deal with it once the darkness does descend.
Funds are needed to complete the soundtrack, sound mix. and post-production costs and to pay a token to those who have worked on this film voluntarily for the past two years.
We thank you in advance for your support for this very important film. Depression is an epidemic in our society, not only for artists but for everyone.
