Finishing Funds for "The Incredible" Short Film

Hello New and Old Friends,

My name is Abbesi Akhamie and I'm the writer/director of the film, The Incredible Sensational Fiancée of Dr. Seyi Ajayi, which recently finished principal photography and we're now moving into post-production. I'm joined by an incredible team of women to bring this project to fruition including Yety Akinola (Producer and Costume), Melissa Adeyemo (Producer), Charlotte Hornsby (Cinematographer), and Christelle Matou (Production Designer).

ABOUT THE FILM:

In the whimsical hyperrealist Pan-African city of Alkebulan, the brilliant yet unrecognized scholar, Dr. Constance Moumie, basks in her 8-year romance with her beloved Dr. Seyi Ajayi. Life is a dream until Princess Ada's enigmatic arrival sets the town abuzz, revealing her as Dr. Seyi's surprise fiancée. The Incredible Sensational Fiancée of Dr. Seyi Ajayi is a rollercoaster of love, deception, and revenge as Dr. Constance brews a plan to expose her duplicitous lover during his engagement ceremony.

The film stars actress and writer/director Ellie Foumbi of the award-winning New York Times pick Our Father, The Devil. Directed by Abbesi Akhamie, who has premiered at TIFF, is part of the Black Boy Writes/Black Girl Writes cohort announced in Deadline with her last short The Couple Next Door, streaming on the Criterion Channel . Charlotte Hornsby is our amazing DP with her latest feature premiering at Sundance in 2022. As well as designing this female lead project, she is also producing it - with her last short Rest Stop winning the US fiction prize at Sundance 2023 and is currently touring theatres both in the US and internationally.
