Finlay’s Cambodia expedition, Camps International

Hi my name is Finlay. In July 2025 I will be heading to Cambodia, with Camps International.

Camps International are global leaders in ethical and sustainable travel, offering fully supported, life enhancing expeditions across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

During my month long visit to Cambodia I will be getting stuck into vital community project work in rural areas. I will be helping to construct water storage, improve infrastructure at the local school, and refurbishing community buildings.

There will be some sightseeing and the opportunity to complete my PADI Open Water Scuba Diving course at the coast.

Some environmental project work will follow, such as reforestation with native saplings, and using cash crops that are sustainable and beneficial to local communities.

I’m normally a pretty busy guy, swimming 6 days a week for my local club, as well as attending the local youth theatre group. I am also working towards my Duke of Edinburgh awards. I’ve taken on the additional challenge of fundraising for Cambodia. So far I have been making and selling paracord bracelets and I’m planning more sales of these to come over the next year, because they were really successful. I’ve been selling second hand items on facebook marketplace, and recently started making sweetie cones. We are planning a fundraising party and a sponsored swim during summer 24.
