The Big Walk
Hi everyone, thank you to anyone that is taking time to read this post. As many of you know or for those of you who don't know, my beautiful son Finlay got diagnosed with Leukemia. Finlay got diagnosed on the 8th of January, 2025. He is 14 years old.
As you can all imagine this has been a very tough time, not only for us, but for Finlay! We are all so extremely proud of Finlay and for how far he has come on against the biggest battle of his life. As a family we are also massively proud of how Finlay has taken this awful news on the chin and has battled everyday and fought everything that has been thrown at him!
Finlay is a very strong and independent boy, but most of all a fighter. He will smash this with us all by his side. LEUKEMIA YOU SHOULD BE SCARED!!
Since diagnosis Finlay is now into his 4th week of chemotherapy. He’s handling it really well, even on his bad days, unfortunately he is having more bad then good at the moment.
Due to all the exhausting and tiresome weeks Finlay has been through, me and my daughter Ruby (Finlays sister) have decided we want to push ourselves, just as Finlay is, so we have come up with a little challenge. This challenge will be a walk that will take place on the 22nd of February, Saturday morning at 6am. We will walk from NorthBridge, Halifax all the way to Leeds LGI. This walk will come to 27 miles and is estimated around 10 hours and 20 minutes, as we are wanting to set off at about 6am we should be done sometime between 4pm - 5pm.
On this day, Finlay is also having chemotherapy in the morning so he will see us on his way back home and will be able to give us a little wave!
I am going to set up a “go fund me” for those that want to support us. As many of you know, Callum, Reece and Sarah are already doing a lot that will go towards ‘The CandleLighters’. This “go fund me” will be for our precious boy, Finlay! (No donations are asked for) but every bit of help will be massively appreciated. Also if you could just share this post that would mean a lot too!
If anyone wishes to join me and Ruby in this big challenge, you are more than welcome. Just message me personally and we can sort it. All I ask for is that if you do join us you can get your own way of transport back from Leeds to home.
Massive thank you so much, Joanna and Family x
