John's run to help improve Finsbury Park Rugby clubhouse

Finsbury Park Rugby Club is widely considered to be London's best community rugby club (source available on request). However, it suffers from a singular problem - the facilities are pretty shoddy.

While it is only a matter of time before the former public bathroom that is now the club changing rooms receives Listed status, plans are afoot to turn this hall of heroes from damp, dingy and dark to welcoming, fun and inclusive.

To make this happen, I have been persuaded [ed. tricked] into carrying out a feat of extreme endurance [ed. a 5km fun run] to raise funds for this endeavour.

The RFU has generously awarded us a grant that will match up to £10,000 for facility and social space improvements. This is a fantastic opportunity—but we need to raise our share to unlock these funds. With your help, we can transform Downhills Park into a vibrant, inclusive space that encourages more people to pick up a rugby ball and feel part of something special.

If successful, this money will overhaul the showers, install a new accessible bathroom and build a covered terrace where the club can host events (post-game and otherwise) throughout the year.
