Fiona's Kidney Failure and Jeff's House Fire Fall
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jamie Fink and for the past year, I have witnessed my niece, Fiona, smile through her never-ending suffering, and pretend to be okay while her pale complexion told otherwise. Collectively as her family, immediate and extended, we have all rallied around her as doctors have tried by way of countless surgeries, to determine why her kidney has not been functioning properly.
My sister, Stephanie, and brother-in-law, Jeff, have been fortunate enough to eventually have her seen and cared for by one of the top doctors at The Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Every month since August they have been making the 8-hour roundtrip drive to Mayo for surgery and recovery. Their two sons, Vincent and Pierce, have been keeping things in order back home in their absence and the loss of togetherness and time away from work has been detrimental to their family.
The difficult decision was finally reached last week to remove Fiona's kidney and as both Steph and Jeff were preparing to leave for surgery, Jeff tragically fell 2-stories from a roof while fighting a fire. He was rushed to Froedtert Hospital and is suffering from a severe concussion, memory loss (he didn't remember that Fiona is sick), a bruised lung and bowls, a spinal fracture and 10 broken ribs at the sternum which makes breathing and moving beyond painful. He will be in the hospital until he can safely go home.
Steph and Fiona are continuing as planned to head to Mayo for surgery, because Fiona is in constant pain, and Jeff will remain at Froedtert until further notice.
If you would like to or have the means to consider helping them out with their growing financial burden it would be an unspeakable blessing. If donating is not an option prayers are equally as significant and appreciated. Asking for help is not something they would ever consider doing on their own but something that they unfortunately need. All funds raised will go directly to paying medical bills, covering related travel expenses and daily needs as a result of not being able to work for the foreseeable future.
On behalf of Steph, Jeff, Fiona, Vinny and Pierce we all so appreciate the outpouring of love, prayers, support and generosity.
