Fire at Coffeebean Farm

This is my childhood home. My parent's home for the past 30+ years. On Tuesday evening, July 12th, it was struck by lighting and completely burned our 230+ year old barn to the ground. The barn and parts of the connecting building to our house, including my dad's workshop and so many priceless items, have been completely reduced to ashes. We are beyond devastated.

Most importantly, both of my parents, Rand and Angela Bean, who were home at the time of the strike, are safe and unharmed, as is their 6 month old puppy, Jed, and their two cats, Bobby and Jerry. Their chickens perished with the barn.

The historic home, built in 1790, is miraculously still standing. There was extensive damage done to the connecting building that acted as a chimney flue and brought fire to the main house, resulting in several rooms being mostly destroyed. I am happy to say that my family still has a place to live, but not without a ton of work ahead.

We are beyond grateful and unable to thank everyone who rushed to the scene to help. As bad as it all is, things could have been so much worse. Over 20 local fire and rescue teams came to the house to help fight the fire and, in the end, saved our home from the unimaginable. The outpouring of love and support we have already received is overwhelming but appreciated more than words could ever describe.

My parents are in the thick of it now trying to figure out how best to regroup after all that was lost and understand what happens next in this unimaginable aftermath. As I know so many of you reading this know, my parents are some of the most giving, caring and selfless people I know. Any support that you are willing to show to my parents and our beautiful home, our family will be forever grateful. ❤️
