Hugo Fire Cat Survivor

Donation protected
In the late afternoon on December 27 in Hugo, little Ally’s life turned upside when a fire broke out in the home she shared with her elderly owner. He succumbed to the fire, but Ally managed to escape the inferno. The firefighters on scene told neighbors that they had seen a cat but were unable to locate/find her that night.

Over the next several days, a neighbor and friend of the gentleman who lost his life in the fire kept checking the property and calling out her name. They reached out for help on Facebook, and I made contact with them. We planned for traps and food, not knowing if she was alive or not, but knew we had to try. We didn’t even know if she was friendly or feral…just that there was probably a cat in need of rescue. After several days of monitoring traps, food was missing! Could it be Ally? We were not sure but were not going to stop trying. Then a miracle! While going to check the trap, the friend heard a meow, then saw her. It was Ally…about 20 yards away. They slowly made their approach, talking calmly and making themselves small and she surrendered. No trap needed!

She was taken back to the neighbors for assessment, and I joined them later that day. We found a cat who has the sweetest disposition, was so happy to be rescued and in a warm, safe environment with food and care. She has singed whiskers, singed spots of fur and her back paws were burned. This was making it a bit difficult for her to walk. She appeared to be in relatively good condition considering everything that she had been through!

She was seen at Pacific Vet where she was given an exam, antibiotics, pain medication and some cream for the burns on the bottoms of her back paws. Ally is estimated to be about 10-12 years old.

The purpose of the go-fund me? We noticed that Ally was having a difficult time eating, especially kibble. Her teeth are in bad shape. She has a broken canine, several loose teeth and teeth that need extraction for her to be able to live her best life pain-free. She will recover fully from the injuries she received in the fire but will suffer if she does not have the dental work done that’s needed. I have covered the initial expenses but need your help with the dental.  She has an appointment on February 10 for her dental surgery.

Ally has a loving, caring home where she will be able to spend the rest of her life, but this expense, for them, is not in the budget at this time. I've attached the estimate (sorry it's sideways, but I wanted all the charges to be visible).

Will you help? Ally has been through so much, and I’d love for her to be able to have her surgery and be pain-free. The estimate is $660-$1,157 for this procedure. I am hoping to raise the full amount just in case it’s all needed. However, should the money raised exceed Ally’s expenses, I will be donating the difference to Melly Cat Rescue, a 501c3 non-profit based in the Applegate Valley. There are no county boundaries for Melody. She helps kitties in both Jackson and Josephine County. She’s a one-woman show and doing so much to help the homeless kitties in our area. You can check out her page on Facebook.
