Fire Chief Jim Ellis Battles Cancer
Donation protected
Eddington Fire Chief, Jim Ellis has spent most of his life helping others. Jim has served many communities and has dedicated over 30 years to the Fire Service and Law Enforcement. Jim resides in Brewer with his wife Brandy. They have three daughters, Samantha, Emily and Michela as well as five grandchildren.
Jim’s career has taken him many places, including serving as an investigator for the State Fire Marshall’s office, as the Fire Chief for the towns of Holden and Eddington and as a Lieutenant for the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.
Unfortunately, in May of 2019, Jim's career in the fire service also brought him and his family an unexpected cancer diagnosis. Jim was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer that too commonly plagues firefighters.
After 14 months of chemotherapy, Jim has now begun the next phase of treatment. The first of October he checked into Boston to start the preliminary prep for stem cell collection of which he underwent his stem cell transplant on October 13th, this is all in hopes of remission.
Jim and Brandy returned home on October 26th, where he will finish his recovery over the next 3-6 months.
Please help Fire Chief Jim Ellis Battle Cancer.
