Fire Destroyed Apt Leaving Injured Tenants & Cats
Donativo protegido
Around 1am last Friday, the apartment unit beneath Cassie and Jane's unit caught fire. As escape wasn't possible through the front door due to the thick smoke and flames and they were forced to jump out of their second story unit, a twelve foot drop, to escape the flames. Thankfully, they survived the fire and the jump, but not without injury- Cassie, with brain bleeding and a torn rotator cuff, and Jane with compression fractures in her spine. The fire consumed everything they had, along with the life of one of their cats, Monja. She succumbed to her injuries Sunday night. Cassie, Jane, and their remaining 4 cats are still displaced and healing from the accident related wounds.
Cassie and Jane have been orphaned since they were in their teens, and do not have any kind of financial support. They lost their mother to a long battle with cancer, and shortly after, their father to a heart attack. They shared a car and small apartment which contained all their physical belongings. Cassie works full time. Jane works full time & is also a full time student. Everything they owned was in their apartment that went up in flames. Though they had renter’s insurance, it will not be nearly enough to cover all the medical bills, physical therapy, vet costs, and buying their basic essentials.
The world is a stressful place & money is tight for everyone right now. We hope that you could please give what you’re able and share with your friends.
