Fire destroyed Rose Hill Aussies puppy home!

Hi my name is Lisa Cheney, I am fundraising for an amazing family who has brought so much love and joy into the world! The Baldwin's raise mini and toy Australian puppies. I personally know the love and care they have always poured into their fur babies, especially the ones that have rough starts. I am honored to love and care for one of those babies. The Baldwin's and their babies are such a blessing to SO MANY families!!! Now they need OUR HELP and love!!!

Today I was heartbroken when I read Angela's early morning post on social media, painstakingly sharing the news of the fire that destroyed the Rose Hill Aussies puppy home, burned her husband who was trying to save the building and babies inside, and destroyed everything they needed for the tiny babies who are on their way.

From Angela's post:
"The last two months, I worked hard to save puppies from my Miracle Litter. I lost 2 and saved 5. I rejoiced with those that made it with you all. Valentine's Day my family took a short break from our life to do a paint and sip board event with my husband and girls. It isn't often we get to do fun things together anymore. There are always animal responsibilities to be done. I was cooking a light dinner. It was late, past 10, we had a puppy delivery several hours away the next morning. My girls who are such amazing helpers were helping with farm chores when my youngest came running in to tell me our puppy building was on fire. About a year ago we purchased a 12 by 40ft building to have newborn puppies, dog supplies, and all my picture props in it. Newborn moms are anxious and like a quiet, calm place, and the amount of supplies takes up a big space. We heat it with indoor propane heaters. While changing out bottles, the one bottle didn't get fully closed, and the heater that was on exploded up causing flames to shoot up and catch the building on fire. My youngest daughter was on the hill and came yelling to say the puppy building was on fire. I ran out of the house calling 911, and I watched in horror as flames shot up in the air. Crying, I ran down the hill seeing this event unfold like a nightmare.. one of the many lately. I didn't know if my husband or other daughter were in there. My husband had immediately started hosing the fire to stop it and keep it from burning our other buildings. He sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns to his head and hand which he had to get treated at a burn center in Richmond. Tragically we had four two day old puppies in there that couldn't be saved because the fire was too fast and big. Their mom was outside going potty and is fine. Our older puppies are in our home and are fine. No other animals were harmed. The loss is deep. I can't put this in words. I couldn't even emotionally share this yesterday. We lost the majority of our whelping items, dog medicine, toys, bags, food, picture items. While the loss is huge, the lives of the four puppies is tragic. In this tragedy, I am thankful my family and other animals are okay. We are traumatized. Please be patient with me if I can't answer or deal with more. "

I have spoken to Angela about what was lost in the fire: the entire building ($60k), 6 brand new professional whelping kennels ($2k each) where the mamas have a quiet safe environment for them and their babies, ($10k) medicines, nebulator machines for the extra tiny babies, toys, food, and a lifetime of props used for photographic the babies to find them their forever homes. The loss is devastating and heartbreaking.

Due to the past weather storms in their area, causing profound property damage throughout the community, the Baldwins are not able to submit this tragedy to their insurance companies without the fear of losing coverage all together. They REALLY are in need of our help getting back on their feet and being able to provide the level of love and care to all the babies that are on the way.

Let's band together and shower this amazing family as much love, gratitude, compassion that they have given to SO many others over the years.

Sending much love,
Lisa
