Along with so many others in LA, my parents have just lost their home and everything inside it. It was the home my sister and I grew up in and my parents have owned for 34 years. Nothing can bring back the things they lost - photographs, books, my mother’s handmade sculptures - but right now they have very little. Both of them are retired - my dad is 81, my mum 78 and their retirement was wrapped up in the worth of the home. A burnt and barren land means that’s been wiped away.
