Fire Relief for the Maple Tree Pancake House
Donation protected
The Maple Tree Pancake House has been a landmark restaurant in the city of Virginia Beach for 42 years. Located on Atlantic Avenue at the oceanfront, this was a truly family run business. This iconic piece of of Virginia Beach history suffered a devastating fire on July 11, 2023 which rendered the restaurant a total loss. The owners, Reino and Androulla (“Roulla”) Lindroos, husband and wife, immigrated to the United States in 1974 when they pursued the “American Dream” by opening the restaurant in 1981. They ran the restaurant themselves and were present every single day. Family members also worked in the restaurant as well as loyal and dedicated employees. Locals and tourists returned to the restaurant daily to have delicious and plentiful food, visit with Reino and Roulla and relive their memories. The nostalgic decor, including a large cartoon mural on the wall, was enjoyed by customers. Although all of the vintage decor which had been there for decades was all lost in the fire, the Maple Tree Pancake House plans to rebuild and come back. Loyal customers are anxiously waiting for their favorite place for breakfast and lunch to come back. Sadly, there are expenses that insurance will not cover. Please help bring this piece of Virginia Beach history back better than ever!
