Fire takes Bauhaus Salon

Our daughter,Erica and her partner, David suffered a tragic fire in SLC!
On Sunday, March 27, 2022, at approximately 5:30 PM, while David and Erica were with David's family nearby, their phones started going off! Friends, clients and neighbors were frantically trying to get a hold of them to make sure they were okay and told them about the fire at David's salon. On a day with no clients or stylists in the salon, a fire burned the Bauhaus Salon beyond recognition in a two-alarm fire. By the time David, Erica and the family arrived at the scene, firefighters in five fire trucks were drenching the fire and everything in the building. Between the smoke, water and fire, it was a total loss! David is devastated and overwhelmed as he realizes the magnitude of this tragic loss!
David has been in the hair industry for more than 25 years. In 2017, after working as an educator for Paul Mitchell and traveling the world to train the very best stylists, David invested his entire life savings to create his "modern, artistic and welcoming" Bauhaus Salon in Salt Lake City, UT. As the Artistic Director and owner of Bauhaus, David has invested in his stylists' education, self-betterment programs, and well-being. The Bauhaus stylists work in a beautiful, collaborative and healthy environment, and they enjoy what they do, which means their clients love the way they feel when they walk away from their Bauhaus experience. David and his team have created an incredible following and business in the charming neighborhood called The Avenues, in Salt Lake City.

David overcame the Covid shutdowns after spending significant money on expanding his salon to provide more space for his team to work safely and creatively, and now THIS! Life sometimes just doesn't seem fair, but we know David's spirit is strong and he will overcome this tragedy, with our help! The devastation of the loss of his beloved salon not only affects the Salt Lake City community it is his livelihood.
We are eternally grateful nobody was physically harmed, and in true David fashion, his initial and primary concern was and continues to be for the well-being of his stylists and clients, but then... there is the overwhelming reality: the business's responsibility and the financial responsibilities. An investigation will take place, and it will take time to clean up and rebuild.

If you're able to help, the Holland and Walters families would be deeply grateful for any size donation to help with the loss of income, loss of David's investment, legal expenses, and the cost of starting over. Please consider sharing this page.
