Fired after 17 Years

My name is Jason, and I am raising money for my mother, Patricia Feltey.
My mother worked for Lowe's Home Improvement as a Horticulturist, Manager, and Associate in various capacities since 2005. She was well-known by customers in the community, who often referred to her as Ms. Pat. On November 17, 2022, at 4 am, she was notified of her termination. This phone call came as an utter shock as my mother was planning to retire in January, soon after she turned 68.
Two store managers claim that she quit mid-shift (but strangely worked for another 5 hours) in an attempt to avoid paying state-required two-week severance, her accrued PTO, and a previously earned 3rd Quarter bonus. My mother's termination was retaliation for two reasons: questioning a potentially dangerous store policy that blocked outdoor access/emergency escape from the garden center and expressing her interest in unionization efforts at Lowe's store #2470. She was never given written documentation or an exit survey by management and was told that Lowe's no longer offers such documentation and would receive an email.
Throughout her nearly two-decade-long career at Lowe's, my mom has suffered several severe on-the-job injuries, including a broken sternum, numerous broken fingers, a broken foot, and at least one concussion. She is now left without health insurance coverage during the height of flu and covid season, which is one of her primary concerns.
My mom proudly served the Greater New Orleans community through her job at Lowe's and as a Karate and self-defense instructor, often teaching underserved children or students with disabilities. She has always been the one to help others but is too proud to ask others for help. I am reaching out to ask you for a donation to help my mom settle her affairs. I understand that times are tough, but any amount would be greatly appreciated.
I appreciate your support,
Jason
