Firefighter Fights For His Life
Second Assistant Fire Chief, Jim Brooks, sustained a life-threatening medical emergency in route to the scene of an early morning structure fire on Saturday, May 2nd. He was immediately transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center, then airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. On Monday, May 4th, Jim underwent a lengthy surgery where they hoped to increase blood flow to his kidneys and repair a tear in his aorta. The surgeon was unable to repair the tear at that time. Since then, Jim has suffered multiple complications, and currently remains critical in the ICU, intubated, fighting for his life.
Due to complications Jim has already suffered, it’s apparent there will be long term impacts on his life. It’s too early to determine how significant they will be, but funds will certainly be needed. The money donated to this account will be used to pay for medical bills, and any unforeseen expenses that will accrue for Jim going forward.
Jim has dedicated over 20 years of service to The Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company, helping community members in need. It’s now time for us, a community, a family, to help our friend who’s in desperate need.
Please keep Jim and his family in your thoughts. They are taking things one day at a time, hoping for any news of progress. Any money donated toward his fight is greatly appreciated.
Thank you❤️
