FIrefighter Steve Shipp T7#4
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tim Davis. I’m a Sergeant with DC Fire and EMS assigned to T13#4. I came on the department in June of 2004, 1 recruit class behind Steve Shipp. This GoFundMe is for Steve. In early January, my brother and best friend, Steve Shipp, was diagnosed with Stage 4 colorectal cancer. He’s currently undergoing chemotherapy in hopes of reducing the tumors enough to allow for what we all pray is a life saving/ cancer removing surgery. Steve and his wife, Sonia have 3 beautiful children, Brenten, Kasey, and Kameron and one perfect little angel of a granddaughter, Harper. Steve served in the US Coast Guard for 4 years before joining the DC Fire Department in April 2004. He was appointed to Engine 33 but eventually transferred, with a little help from his best friend lol to Truck 7. He has been the truck driver at Truck 7#4 for going on 3 years. Steve and I rode the side of Truck 7 and Ambulance 18 for 10 plus years together. My kids consider him an Uncle and I love him like a biological brother! We are family!!He and I have been through a lot since we met and he has always loved and supported me even when I may not have deserved it, now it’s my time to pay him back. Steve is one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met and while no one ever deserves cancer, Steve has far too much life, love and faith left to share for this to beat him. Steve is in the process of working through a POD claim with the department to ensure his insurance and salary while he wages the fight of his life. Unfortunately due to the debilitating nature of cancer treatments Steve is no longer able to work at all, including his part time job and department overtime, which he counted on to help support his family. 100% of the money raised will go to Steve and Sonia to help them pay bills and sustain them financially until Steve has kicked cancers ass and can get back to work with his brothers and sisters serving the citizens of the District of Columbia. As money is donated Steve and Sonia will receive bank transfers directly from GoFundMe into their designated account. The money donated will be used to cover medical expenses, travel costs related to treatment, and maintaining Steve’s household expenses while he is infirmed. Any money that is collected over and above what they need or use to assist in keeping them going will be donated to cancer research, First Responder causes and to support others who may be suffering from this horrible illness. Money obviously won’t cure Steves cancer, but it can certainly help eliminate one more energy zapping stressor from Steve and family so they can focus on the FIGHT. Please keep Steve, Sonia and family and all those suffering from this horrific disease in your prayers, whether you can give or not. Remember this could literally be any of us in the Fire Service at anytime. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for prayerfully considering a donation if you are able!
