Firefighters and Friends Feed Nova Scotia
In response to these challenging and unprecedented times, Halifax Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 268, have come together in an attempt to raise funds and awareness for Feed Nova Scotia. As frontline and emergency workers who receive a great deal of public support, Halifax Proressional Firefighters would like to acknowledge and extend our appreciation to the hard and tireless work of all frontline organizations serving the public and battling hunger.
Since 1984, Feed Nova Scotia has served Nova Scotians in trying to combat the difficult challenges of poverty and food insecurity. Through food distribution and education, Feed Nova Scotia is currently supporting 141 food banks and meal programs throughout the province.
While Feed Nova Scotia has experienced funding limitations in the past, new challenges have arisen with the outbreak of COVID-19. Job loss, school closures and increased financial insecurity has meant that families, friends and neighbors in our local communities are facing increased barriers in accessing essential goods, including food.
For those of us who are in the fortunate position to be able to donate, Halifax Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 268, are challenging you to make a contribution to Feed Nova Scotia and help alleviate the financial burden faced by so many in the days and months to come. We encourage everyone to show support for one another and share this link with their friends and families. I’m sure we can all agree, that during these uncertain times, it is easier to smile with a full belly.
Thank you,
