Fires destroy Lahaina and my mom's apartment

My name is Brandi Moore. I'm originally from Honolulu, HI whereI grew up with my mom.

I woke up to some very sad news this morning. As my mom was on her way home last night she found herself in traffic. A phone call came through from her boss asking her where she was. They told her to turn around and get out. The fires had just begun.

As many of you know, the California fires have devastated whole towns in the past and taken lives. This is exactly what happened last night only on an island with a small town that is now non-existent. The high winds of a category 4 hurricane approaching the islands mixed with the beginning of a fire quickly causing what they're now calling an apocalyptic wildfire has devastated Lahaina.

My mom is now displaced. Since she was not home when this happened the only items she has are the clothes on her back. She's lost everything including her savings she kept in her home. She's in disarray. Although I'm doing my best to keep her calm there's no consoling her at the moment.

The first thing that came to me was to start this Go Fund Me. I've never created one before and always knew if I did it would be for the best reason. My mom has lost her entire home once before and has gone through much more including cancer 3 times. She's always been strong but this feels like it's finally something that's broken her. My heart hurts for her to hear her like this.

This Go Fund Me would help my mom have the funds to find an apartment and buy the essentials she needs like a bed and food. We don't know what the costs will be since many people have been displaced or what the availability will be like or what the rates will be. I pray landlords soften their hearts for people like my mom and help them find homes. Any help you can give is so greatly appreciated. My heart thanks you.
