Firewood for families on Hopi and Navajo Nation

Donation protected
Jonathan Yazzie is a community leader who volunteers his time loading, hauling and delivering firewood for those who need assistance heating their homes across Hopi and Navajo Nation.

Across the sovereign lands of northern Arizona, nighttime temperature dip into the single digits, and many families rely on wood-burning stoves to meet their home heating needs. Firewood is expensive and difficult to haul without a pickup. Leaving many families without reliable heat.

Jonathan can help families get the firewood they need by sourcing free wood wherever possible, but he cannot source it all for free. Additionally, the cost of delivering the wood is high. From the forest to the recipient's home can be over 100 miles each way, and the rough roads take a toll on his truck, requiring additional maintenance and repairs.

Next week we expect a snowstorm in the region temperatures will drop significantly. That's why we want to raise $2,000 to help Jonathan deliver to 10 more families before the storm rolls in.
