FIRST EVER Female Olympic Boxer Representing HAITI
I've been told by a 3 time Olympian in Track and Field that a gold medal performance is valued at approximately $100,000. That does not mean bet money. That is the estimated investment on proper preparation when considering training, traveling, recovery measures, and nutrition/supplementation. All of this is in addition to intangible qualities that any athlete in any sport must possess.
The sport of Boxing is different. Tremendous feats costing far less than the $100,000 price tag have been accomplished by boxers of all walks of life. For those boxers, their accomplishments cost tons of will, undeniable talent, determination to learn, and support from the communities around them that could envision the impact behind the victories.
What I am working to accomplish as a female amateur boxer has never been done before, and I certainly don't want to be the last to do it. I am well aware of the cultural and political implications of being Haiti's first female boxer to compete in the Olympics. This endeavor already speaks volumes. It'll also require collective support to make the bold statement the world needs to hear about Haiti, a nation that forcibly changed the course of history.
I'm asking for your financial contribution in creating more positive change.
Like any gold medalist in Track and Field, I, too, require training, travel, recovery, and intentional nutrition/supplementation. The financial cost of these needs is not what Haiti's Boxing Federation has ever been able to afford due to lack of support from a corrupt government. That is what your financial support would make possible this month into July. The gold medal performance, however, would ultimately be up to me.
Thank you all for seeing the vision clearly enough to make it real.
