First Responders: Our true heroes to our communities

Hello: My name is Jeffrey B. Zeiger. On October 28, 2023, I was running around Cascade lake in Rochester, Minnesota. I had a Cardiac Arrest. The person behind me, started to perform CPR. I had no pulse. 911 was called. The First Responders from the closest Fire Department station came out. They needed to shock me to try to get a rhythm. The ambulance from St. Mary's hospital (Mayo Clinic) came out. They picked me up, I coded again and they shocked me for the second time. They took me into the hospital. I coded again the next day. They had to give me a Defibrillator and 3 stints in my Widow Maker. I left the hospital a week later, and began Cardiac Rehab for 3 months. If it wasn't for the First Responders, the ambulance and the Good Samaritan, I would not be here.
This experience changed my life. My entire mindset changed. I began sending out kindness and joy to everyone I met. I started spreading LOVE LIKE BUTTER!
It made me a better person, and I have committed my life to helping others in need.
It’s like a pebble thrown in water. It is the ripple effect. Their hands gave me life, and because of them, I am a better person, and when I impact others in a positive way, the First Responders live through me.
I want to dedicate a bench and Memorial at Cascade lake for all First Responders. Without their help, I would not be here. They are our true heroes, and need to have a bench dedicated to their committed devoted service to our commuity and all communities. This bench will be dedicated to all the First Responders who lost their lives in service, and those who continue to help others.
