First Shelter for Humans AND Pets
Donation protected
THE PROBLEM:
* Approximately 250 died in Philadelphia last year while experiencing homelessness.
* A portion of these people died from hypothermia.
* Of those who died from hypothermia, many were homeless with their pets.
* There are no shelters in Philadelphia that house people and their pets.
*Over the course of operating shelters in churches for 6 years, SREHUP (Student-Run Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia) has had to turn away countless individuals who are seeking shelter with their pets.
THE SOLUTION:
*SREHUP is opening the FIRST shelter for people and their pets (ALL pets/All Breeds) in Philadelphia.
*We are partnering with local pet shelters, which are providing crates, dog supplies, dog food, veterinarian care, and dog groomers and walkers for our shelter. Morris Animal Refuge is our biggest pet care partner.
* This shelter will be innovative, revolutionary, and life saving.
WE HAVE A PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS:
*SREHUP is a shelter initiative that has successfully operated 3 homeless shelters in Philadelphia. We have over 7 years of experience doing this vital work. And we have helped move hundreds of our vulnerable neighbors from street to housing.
*We are different from most shelters because we are not a drop in shelter, and our guests aren't transient.
*The same guests stay with us all winter while we link them to social workers and services they need to get back on their feet.
*This is not a band-aid, it's real and lasting help that changes lives.
*Please donate today, be a part of this groundbreaking project, and help us save the lives of our vulnerable neighbors and their pets.
