First Urban Indigenous Independent School BC
Donation protected
Nisaika Kum'tuks (NK) and Tsawalk are learning centres that over the past seven years have worked with children and youth, 75% of whom are Indigenous, in the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Students are being "transitioned" under the direction of the Ministry of Education into the local school district. The Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre (NAC) and Mid Island Metis Nation (MIMN) having been the Indigenous partners in the Centres are committed to the further support of our children and youth with innovative community based education programs. These programs provide a safe and culturally responsive space for the children and youth of our community. Having seen the success for a portion of students that struggle within the public school system. NAC and MIMN will be applying to become the First Urban Indigenous Independent School in the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Please consider donating. Every dollar matters.
