Fi's Stage 4 Cancer Journey

Hi, my name is Rose and I wished that I didn’t feel that I need to create this GoFund me page.

My best friend Fiona (known as Fi) has been my best friend since kindergarten. We are now in our 50’s with boundless shared life experiences, some good and some that challenged us. Fi is a proud, single mama bear to two kids that live with her. She is only a few months into a reasonably new work position that she loves.

Fi learned last week that not only does she have Breast Cancer (IDC), but that

the cancer has already metastised and spread to areas of bone, liver and several lymph nodes around the body.

Fi is now facing the journey of Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

We were all shocked with this news and Fi’s circle of friends and family that love her are here to support her through the journey.

What we don’t know is what lay ahead with treatment and how it will affect her ability to work. I have put this fundraiser together to help her with out-of-pocket medical costs that have and will continue to arise; to make sure she doesn't have to think twice about exploring integrative treatments to support her conventional treatment, which can amount very quickly into the thousands, and of course the unknown of potentially needing time away from her work in a new role with little to no leave to draw on. Quite simply I want to alleviate financials concerns for my friend so she can focus on wellness.

Fi is such a half glass full woman who has supported those in her life when they needed assistance, but this is a serious situation and although treatable, I want to ensure she can make any and all treatment option decisions with ease.

So I am asking you to please help me help my best friend in the journey with a donation.

I know Fi also wants to use this situation to encourage all of us to have our regular mammograms and breast checks.
