Fix My Mom's Heart

Hello, my name is Allyson and my mom needs our help.

For the past 10 months they have tried to come up with the money to do this themselves, but between illness , injury, numerous equipment break downs and crop failure, they just haven't been able to.

The time has come to finally have University of Chicago review my mom's records to see if surgically unroofing her myocardial bridge would be possible and beneficial and make her feel better.

A myocardial bridge is a birth defect of her LAD artery. In utero it took a wrong turn while it was developing and grew into her heart wall. When her heart pumps blood it squeezes the artery and greatly reduces blood flow through the artery.

Alot of times it is not an issue for people but since her massive heart attack in 2018, small vessel disease and stents, it triggers vasospasms in the LAD that make her feel like she's having a heart attack all over again.

There are only about 10 hospitals that we know of that does the surgery in the United States. Unfortunately it isn't cheap to have them review them, at $750+ and if radiology has to read films it will be more, and insurance doesn't pay for it. This is really a first opinion concerning surgery since local doctors don't do the surgery and the doctors here have exhausted all medication treatments that they know to do for a myocardial bridge. Surgery is the next treatment option. So her doctors want her to get an opinion from a medical center that does the surgery.

The reason they chose Chicago is because they are the cheapest they could find to review her records to see if surgery is an option and they do the surgery robotically instead of open heart. Sadly no hospital in Virginia does the surgery. So I'm asking for help from my family and friends to see what our options are. I just want my mom to feel better.
