Fix the Puerto Vallarta (Conchas Chinas) Launch

Hi, I am Jeff Greenbaum and have been visiting and flying this launch in Puerto Vallarta for about 12 + years. There is a launch above the town in the district called Conchas Chinas. It was created many years ago by Hang Glider pilots who lived in PV.

This launch is big enough for Intermediate and above Paragliders with solid launch skills. But, it has gotten so bad, it is now no longer safe. Only a few locals are flying here. They do not have funds to rebuild this. Materials will be purchased, and the entire launch ramp will be redesigned and rebuilt.

The soaring is fantastic, and you can land on Los Muertes Beach, nearby. From just 200 meters above the launch, flights past the downtown, landing on less crowded sand beaches. Only a few tourist pilots know about this amazing spot. I came up with the idea that we could get the funds and work with my friend Dan Dimov, a local, to rebuild and make it even better than before. Dan will help facilitate the rebuild when funds are there.

I will cover the first 300. Selfish me wants to fly there on my semi-annual trips. But this is about keeping this amazing launch available for locals and visitors. There is another flying site in Yelapa, but catching good days is much rarer than this amazing spot, right above town.

Included in this project will be trimming the trees below and getting the supplies up the moderately steep trail (about 25 minute hike from the nearest road). Getting wood or metal for the new ramp will take a ton of work. Upon completion, I will create a site guide, with access directions, that will be available to anyone but especially to donors.
