Fix the Roof of Canada's Only Horse Drawn Theatre!
Donation protected
Help! The roof of Canada's only horse drawn theatre caravan - Théâtre Roulant - has sprung a leak! As we ready our 2024 season - our most exciting year yet - we have discovered fault lines in the caravan roof which means 8 thousand dollars of repairs!
We hope to have the work undertaken in April of this year on site in Bloomfield, Ontario and ready in time for our horses, Susie and Sarah to pull our Théâtre Roulant caravan through Prince Edward County's Canada Day parade. We have engaged the expertise of a veteran roofing contractor familiar with arched roof design which is a signature style of historic travelling caravans.
This season will feature - count them - THREE world premiere stage plays including one by Maureen Jennings - the author of MURDOCH MYSTERIES!
What is Théâtre Roulant?
Théâtre Roulant is a playhouse on wheels, a travelling troupe of actors, musicians & performers. This retrofitted hay wagon wanders the outback and side roads of Prince Edward County, Ontario, visiting towns and villages to entertain audiences of all ages.
The theatre founders, Conrad Beaubien and John Burns have produced an extensive series of original plays over the twelve years they have been working together.
Writing for television, stage and print and with a career spanning decades, Conrad’s television credits include the award-winning documentaries Red Road, Village of Thirty Centuries and The Secret of Will. Conrad is also the creator and producer of Sketches of Our Town, the longest-running independently produced series in Canada. His stage play- Back of Hoards Station- saw sixteen performances last season.
John Burns is a seasoned director and theatre producer having taught acting while directing a range of productions that include mulit-cast musicals and solo performances. John is the founder of Festival Players, now County Stage Company, a long-lasting professional theatre company based in Prince Edward County, Ontario.
We are pleased to receive any amount of donations toward our 8-thousand-dollar goal by April!
Thank you from all of us!
