Fix Up Ms. Mickeys House Before She Returns Home

Donation protected
Hello, my friends and fellow community members.

After much encouragement, I was told to put down my pride and ask for help.

I am starting this page to try to raise funds for my mother Mickey Monville (or Ms. Mickey, as the kids would call her at Bush Elementary). My mother works at Bush Elementary as an aide working with kids from young-5's to 1st graders. My mother spends a ton of her free-time at the school outside of work to help give back. My mother is constantly there either decorating the showcase for the kids to enjoy when they walk by it in the halls, or creating fun lessons for her literacy students, or hosting the annual volunteer luncheon, or volunteering for fundraising events.

Last Wednesday, the 15th, my mother was taken by ambulance to the ER. Once at the ER she was immediately put on a ventilator and had multiple labs drawn to figure out her diagnosis. After having a spinal tap done, I was informed that my mother has bacterial meningitis. The meningitis started from an ear infection that spread into her blood and spinal fluid. My mother remained on the ventilator for four days, until yesterday. Today she will be transported to a long-term acute care facility where they will continue to have to care for my mother and eventually start rehabilitation (when she is strong enough). From there it is unknown whether she will be able to return home or have to go to an in-patient rehab facility.

In December, we started a bathroom remodel that has gone unfinished. So, we do not have a fully functioning bathroom for my mother to return home to. I have a good friend of mine that has quoted me $3600 to finish (and redo part of) the bathroom. He is the only person I trust to do this, so that is not the concern. Before my mother went into the hospital she spoke with him and he is fully aware of everything that still needs to be done and what my mother wanted done in the bathroom.
I am asking for a little more than what he quoted me to help cover an unforeseen additional costs that may come up.

I am laid off right now too due to COVID-19 and have zero income coming in (unemployment has not gone through for me). Along with worrying about my mother I have also inherited all of her responsibilities as head of the household, which includes taking care of my 85 year-old grandmother who has Alzheimer's.

I know times are tough right now for many of us... I do not expect anything from anyone. With that being said, even if you can only donate $5 that will help myself and my mother out.

Thank you in advance,
Chloe
