Fix Dexter's Broken Heart ❤️

My names Dexter,  I'm a fun-loving Labrador pup who loves spending time with my family. I also enjoy walks, playing with sticks, destroying my toys & stealing socks. Like every Labrador I absolutely love my food and have learnt lots of tricks in return for treats, of course.  Life was perfect....

However, just weeks before my 1st birthday my family became increasingly concerned as I was having difficulty breathing.  After a quick check-up at the vets they discovered that my heart was so enlarged that it was pressing against my trachea and this was why I was struggling to breathe.  A more in-depth examination showed that one of the valves in my heart wasn't functioning properly and that I was in the early stages of heart failure. I am currently on numerous heart medications which have helped stabilise my heart for now, but the vets have said I won't make my 2nd birthday. 

My family are absolutely devastated and are not ready to lose me. They say I have brought them so much joy and love in the last year and that they can't imagine life without me. As I am so young they feel as though they owe it to me to give me a chance at life. 

Thankfully the vets think they will be able to mend my heart and I am scheduled to receive potentially life saving open heart surgery this year,  in London, where they will attempt to repair the valve in my heart.  However not only does it come with great risk as it is a relatively new procedure that has only been carried out a number of times, it also comes at a great expense and my insurance will not cover the £10,000. My parents are trying their best to get all the funds together, but I thought I would try and support them by appealing for your help. 

If you can spare even a few pounds my family and I would be ever so grateful as every little really does help.
