Fixing Chilcapamba's Water
Donation protected
Hi my name is Lucas Oles, I'm fundraising for the village of Chilcapamba, Ecuador that I visited during the summer of 2021 on a trip with Putney Student Travel. Chilcapamba is the village where most Putney groups have done their community service in for the past 10 years. After creating a strong bond with many of the locals I still wanted to do more. While there, I talked extensively with the locals and found out that they have had a problem with their drinking water for quite a while. Due to the poverty in Ecuador the village is unable to afford the necessary work to restore the water in all homes within the village, so they have gone without. Sometimes the water accessibility is better than other times, it changes regularly. The villagers also lack the needed tools to complete the work, so they needed to get a quote from a company that has the tools and knowledge to do the work. The village was quoted for all of the materials and labor $7,327.
I am taking this project on as a part of my Capstone course which is a required class in Connecticut for graduation. In our Capstone course, students need to complete a project to benefit the community. When I thought of a worthwhile project, helping the village of Chilcapamba was the first thing that came to mind. Then I started my research and connected with Lauren McDowell from Putney who has mentored me along the way. Please help me in any way to support my goal.
Thank you so much for your support.
