About
At the heart of the JV experience lies the transformative journey of volunteering, where young individuals commit to a year (or more) of service in marginalized communities. The Jesuit Volunteer Corps provides them with a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference, grow spiritually, and develop a deep sense of solidarity and justice. However, as these volunteers transition out of their service year and continue on their journeys, they often face new challenges and a longing for renewed inspiration.
The annual FJV New England Retreat has been organized, planned, and led by Former Jesuit Volunteers from the New England area since before 2007. We believe that retreats of renewal and reconnection are crucial for former volunteers to deepen their understanding of their mission, reconnect with their fellow volunteers, and gain the spiritual nourishment necessary to continue their lives of service. These retreats offer a safe space for reflection, sharing experiences, and discerning future paths inspired by the Ignatian tradition of reflection and discernment.
To make these retreats accessible to all former volunteers (whether just finishing or are decades out), regardless of their financial circumstances, we are launching a fundraising campaign. We humbly invite you to join us on this meaningful journey by making a donation. Your support will directly fund scholarships and travel assistance, enabling these intentional individuals to participate in these retreat experiences.
With gratitude,
FJV New England Retreat Team

Where does the donation go?
The retreat is currently a 2-night weekend retreat that is planned and led on a voluntary basis. Carpools are organized and arranged where possible to help participants travel to the retreat center. All funds from participants and donations go towards lodging, food, and supplies for the retreat.

What FJVs have said about the retreat
"Hearing about the experiences of more seasoned FJVs was so helpful to me as a new FJV who still feels very unsettled and unsure about how to “do life” after JVC."
"For me, being so far out from my JV experience, the retreat was such a rejuvenating way to reconnect with my core values and navigate how to integrate those into my life today alongside a community that understands."
