Top Surgery for Sage

Hey there! As you know, I have been medically transitioning in order to find comfort, love, and joy in my body and soul. This has been a long and confusing journey, and while I've only been out as trans for a short time, I've been questioning my gender and sexuality since elementary school. It has been so beautiful and relieving to get to know myself better and to find my true, authentic self as I transition. I'm proud to have Kory by my side, in addition to our wonderful family and friends who have been so supportive.

Unfortunately, despite the support and warmth I have received since coming out, I have also been dealing with medical debt and financial stress. As it turns out, transitioning is actually very expensive in this country. Not to mention the absolute nightmare it has been to navigate insurance, surgeons, and healthcare systems in the U.S. and the emotional stress that has caused.

I am still paying off my hysterectomy, I pay over $200/month for my hormone medications, and now I am trying desperately to save for top surgery while working myself out from under debt (and processing the most difficult year I've had). Despite working two jobs, Kory and I are having so much trouble making ends meet and we have no idea how we are going to pay for my top surgery - we just know that I need it, and there is no other option for me. This is something I have to have. This is not an elective or cosmetic surgery - this is necessary and life saving.

It doesn't feel good to have to ask this, but I feel that I am out of options. With that in mind, I am asking you to consider donating to the fund for my top surgery because we need help paying for it, and are trying so hard to avoid taking out another personal loan to pay off medical bills. Anything at all helps, and I genuinely appreciate your donation.

It is my greatest wish that the U.S. healthcare system will provide equitable and affordable access to its citizens, and that we will actually start to put the care in healthcare. That is not currently the case, and politicians all over the country are actively working to get rid of trans people and gender affirming care. They have already been successful in several states, and as the fans of hatred towards transgender people continue to flame, I walk around with a heavier and heavier heart every day - scared of who I can disclose my identity to or just be myself around. It is an incredibly difficult time to be trans, with or without surgeries/medical intervention, which is why I am reaching out to my people for help.
