Help ex-Rayleigh speedway star Allan Emmett
Hello,
It's Tony Mac from Retro Speedway and I'm asking the 'speedway family' worldwide to please support this fund-raiser for ex-rider Allan Emmett, who has endured a catalogue of serious health issues in recent times, including two major heart operations from which he is currently recuperating at home in New South Wales, Australia.
Allan, who starred for Rayleigh Rockets speedway team in the early 70s and won the British Under-21 title in 1972 before a brief spell with first division Hackney ended in a serious leg injury, is a very proud man who would never ask for financial assistance.
But he and his wife Julianne really do need our help. Unlike UK citizens, Aussie residents do not receive the benefits of a free health service. This means the Emmetts now face heavy medical bills to cover not only Allan's most recent hospital treatment, but ongoing costs to pay for regular medication, treatment, hospital appointments, etc.
The couple's struggle to meet these and future bills is compounded by the fact that he has not been able to work for the past four years due to suffering a stroke.
So, they have really been through the mill and any financial assistance we can offer will very much make their lives more bearable.
I appreciate that times are tough for most people but even a small donation would be just as welcome as a large one. Every little helps.
Thank you one and all.
Tony Mac
