Save Our Boxing Club

My name is Ryan Wheeler. I am a professional boxer and trainer who has, for the past 7 years run my own fitness and boxing classes in Frome.

I currently train with over 100 individuals ranging from age 6 and up. My classes are suitable for all ages, shapes and sizes. I facilitate large groups, especially the under 15’s and my training does not ‘just’ consist of physical training.

Boxing and fitness not only builds strength and confidence, it enables individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle . It also helps with discipline at home and school achievement, personal growth, friendships and beliefs that these young people CAN do this type of training is very much a key to my busy classes.

A huge part of my classes is tackling anti-social behaviour and bullying at school. It really does work.

The continued support from local parents is overwhelming.

My fees are kept to a minimum, which means I have been, for some time been able to have an open door facility where all are welcome.

I currently rent floor space within a local gym. I do not own my own premises and rely on this totally. It currently houses a fully equipped size boxing gym, with a boxing ring, equipment and space to run training sessions 6 times a week.

I have recently been informed that the building will no longer be available form the end of this year.

Without these classes I feel there would be a great loss especially among the younger age group. It would be a huge disappointment to see these classes come to an end.

 I would like to send some of our volunteered coaches onto boxing instructor courses, first aid & safe guarding courses

I have been recommended to set up a crowd funding page.

 I want to raise enough money to;

▪️Pay 1 years rent

▪️Coaching qualifications for 5 new coaches 

▪️First aid courses 

▪️Safe guarding courses 

▪️New Boxing Equipment 

I have received overwhelming support not just from parents but all local people.

I am determined to not let all of these youngsters down.

Frome needs somewhere for young people to grow, feel safe and get fit!
