Update 05/25/2024: Roxanne has been in the hospital in Flagstaff for nearly two weeks straight, with no release date set. They are working on getting a physician in Phoenix for her organ failure. Please send positive vibes and prayers.
Flagstaff locals, Roxanne Begay-Shupla and Lloyd Shupla, are two of the kindest and most selfless people you will ever meet.
They have been married for 16 years… a love at first sight kind of story that we all wish for. Roxanne has been diagnosed with organ failure and is in need of not only medical treatment, but also some breathing room for their growing financial situation.
Roxannes medical expenses are averaging more than $35,000 per month. Over the past two months alone, her hospital and surgery expenses exceed $47,000- even after tribal insurance benefits. Unfortunately, over the past month, Roxanne has been in the hospital multiple times for days at a time.
There is no end to what Lloyd and Rox will do to help others. They continually put other people’s needs above themselves.
They donate time directly to the Flagstaff community.
They are staples at the Flagstaff Elks lodge, volunteering more than most.
Roxanne and Lloyd always help anyone without being asked, simply showing up. Lloyd worked than 10 years with the elderly.
In the past year, he was hired as the head chef/catering chef at the Flagstaff Elks Lodge- but prior to being hired- he donated his time to lead the kitchen and various events for the Elks.
These are people who deserve community support.
They make Flagstaff a better place.
They make the Elks Lodge a better place.
This will be no surprise to anybody who knows them- when I told Roxanne I was setting up a GoFundMe to help relieve some of their financial stress and to help with medical expenses, she immediately said that we should do it for someone else who might need it more.
