Flap Be Gone!

Hi, I'm Jay. Husband to Sam (Chatty_Fatty of Tik Tok fame).

I'm setting this up for Sam so she can go about the process of getting more of that old confidence back.

We're at a point now where the weight has fallen off quite dramatically but that does leave the age-old problem of flappy skin.

Since funding bariatric surgery herself in November 2021, Sam has lost 9st. This along with three C-Sections has left a significant overhang on her stomach.

This has been affecting Sam not only physically but mentally.

Physically she deals with rashes and sores that are increasingly getting worse and more painful. Along with struggling to find clothes that will fit her new shape but also the "mummy apron".

Mentally Sam took a beating after the surgery as she went private in another country after being turned down six times by the NHS so did not get any proper counselling or aftercare.

Sam suffers from body dysmorphia and I believe this to be massively impacted by the overhang and believe that if she was to have this surgery then she would actually, finally see the huge difference that she has achieved.

Sam has struggled with her size for her entire life due to using food as a coping mechanism and developing a binge eating disorder where she would turn to food for comfort. She realised that having the bariatric surgery in the first place was the only option as the choice to eat because of emotion would be taken away from her completely.

I have noticed Sam becoming more and more depressed these last few months as the changes to her body start to become more apparent. While she believed she was prepared for this, it is becoming clear that she wasn't as prepared as she thought she was.

Those who know us personally will know the struggles we've been through for the last few years financially so we're not in a position to get this taken care of on our own.

I have taken the steps to set this up for Sam as a means to hopefully help.

She is a proud person and has always done charity work for others. From helping children in our local community during the pandemic to travelling across the length of Sri Lanka on a tuk-tuk for Wirral Mind last year. Sam would give the coat off her back if you asked her.

As far as Wirral Mind goes, Sam chose to support the charity due to suffering from poor mental health, panic attacks, anxiety and she suffers from these things today. She can't go a day without crippling anxiety which makes her believe that she isn't good enough, doesn't look good enough or isn't what anyone would want to be around. As her husband, you can see why this might be a problem. A problem that I want to help solve.

The NHS has outright refused to even consider giving Sam a skin removal procedure so I'm here setting this up as I don't think she'd do it herself.

The funds raised here will be going straight towards the surgery required along with the plane and accommodation needed while she's in another country getting it all sorted.

Sam will be going alone so none of the funds raised will be going toward myself or anyone else accompanying her.

Someone has to stay home and look after the nippers, am I right?
