FLARE for Elder Care, established in 2023, is a nonprofit organization that provides support and assistance to seniors and their loved ones by making several resources and financial/educational opportunities available without cost.
FLARE for Elder Care is designed to educate, guide, and help fund financial gaps for home care or placement care for elders. The acronym for F.L.A.R.E is Funding, Locating, Accessing, Resources, and Education for Elder Care.
This initiative will ensure that seniors have access to necessary care for their safety and well-being. It will also reduce the risk of crisis and concerns for the person and their family. Additionally, it may decrease unnecessary healthcare hospital and other related expenses.
The funding program provides financial aid to elderly individuals who are unable to afford adequate healthcare services. . This nonprofit program covers a range of options, such as independent living with care, care at home, assisted living, and memory care. Common scenarios in need are as follows:
1. When a senior has more income than the Medicaid waiver eligibility criteria. Common monthly expenses cannot afford to range from $100-$900.
2. When a senior qualifies for Medicaid and Medicaid waiver
waiver but lacks sufficient funds to pay for rent.
3. When a senior is at an assisted living their level of care has increased and cannot afford the cost. Helping offset the cost can reduce homelessness due to senior evictions. This is very helpful for Adult Protection Services.
4. When a senior is in an immediate need for care however waiting 3-6 months for veteran assistance or Medicaid waiver or both programs to be in effect.
