Fleurs et Sel Store Front Bakery Fundraiser
Donation protected
My name is Lara, and I am the founder of Fleurs et Sel, a small, locally owned bakery that makes sweet treats in small batches. My story and love for baking began as a teenager living in France. I experienced the country’s magical boulangeries, the Parisian joie de vivre, and learned how to express my feelings, emotions and love for all things beautiful in French. I named Fleurs et Sel bakery after my two favorite things: flowers and salt.
I started Fleurs et Sel a little over two years ago from my apartment. I lost my job in 2020, and I yearned for human connection at the beginning of quarantine. I was inspired to follow my passions of cooking and community and found pleasure in the little things like scooping sugar and measuring flour. Baking was therapeutic, and I found my rhythm in the kitchen. All that was left was to share my craft with the world.
I baked a couple of dozen cookies, packaged them up as best as I could, and made my first round of deliveries in April 2020. It was late at night, and I drove all over LA, dropping off little boxes of cookies and treats to make quarantine a little more “sweet.” My cookie deliveries were my vehicle for connection as I spread love and light in the dark. Before I knew it, my cookies drew long lines of loyal cookie fans to share, delight and experience Fleurs et Sel.
Over the past two years, we have built something truly incredible. A company centered around thoughtfully made cookies, with flavor combinations inspired by my years living in France. A community strengthened by the most compassionate, selfless, and understanding humans. A culture full of Pop-Ups, Cookie-Drops, brand partnerships, and so much more. My cookies have become a “fil conducteur,” a common thread that has delicately woven our stories and lives together over the past two years. Words cannot fully express how connected I feel to all of you.
A couple of short months ago, I decided to take a leap of faith– for myself, the business and for all who have grown to love and adore Fleurs et Sel. My dream of opening up a small bakeshop will soon be a reality. With a double oven, spiraling mixers, bags of flour and rolling racks filled with freshly baked cookies… the bakery will be a sweet escape into my world and imagination. You will be able to come in, say bonjour and pick up your favorite cookies. The best part? Knowing that all of the cookies will be freshly baked in our new home with the finest ingredients and attention to detail.
Fleurs et Sel is more than just cookies. It is truly about compassion, community and human connection. I am asking for your continued support to reach my goal of opening a bakery and home for Fleurs et Sel.
I will use the funds raised from this fundraiser to purchase commercial kitchen equipment (double ovens, mixers, commercial refrigeration, etc.) and to cover the cost of the build-out and construction. The retail space is an empty shell, and it will take a lot of work to get the bakery up and running. The funds that we raise will help us get to the finish line and open our bakery for one and all to enjoy!
If you can donate to this fundraiser and support Fleurs et Sel, it would truly mean the world to me. I appreciate your consideration and cannot wait to welcome you into our new home. Merci.
