Flight of the Condor: Conner's Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Friends & Family,
Our dear brother Conner was diagnosed with a rare, severe form of cancer called Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. Because the cancer is so aggressive, he will begin treatment immediately in Ukiah, CA.
For the past year, Conner has experienced stomach pain that went undiagnosed. Thinking it was gastrointestinal problems, he adopted a holistic approach to lessen the inflammation and subdue the pain. A couple of weeks ago, Conner’s lymph nodes in his neck and armpit were visible which warranted a doctor's visit. He was quickly referred to a gastrointestinal doctor and a biopsy was taken. The results indicated that the cells from the lymph node were cancerous. Through an ultrasound coupled with a CT body scan, doctors concluded that cancerous tumors have metastasized all over his abdomen. When doctors weren't able to decipher the swollen lymph nodes from the tumors, they concluded that the cancer was aggressive and far along.
After many tests and X-rays, the official diagnosis is Metastatic Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. Treatment has already begun. Here are the details we know today and immediate steps to follow:
- This type of cancer is very aggressive, so he will begin chemotherapy was soon as test results are analyzed by NET specialists.
- This cancer is treatable, although we are unsure of the stage. It does have a history of coming back.
- He will undergo a PET Scan Tuesday (6/29/21) to indicate where the origin is.
- Next, an MRI Scan to see if the cancerous cells have spread to his neck and back to determine how fast it's moving.
- He is trying to get an appointment with a Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Specialist at UCSF for a second opinion and additional support.
As you can imagine, we are seeking any treatment that can help and praying for a miracle. We hope Conner’s insurance will cover the majority of the traditional medical treatment, however, it may not cover all of the expenses. Through this GoFundMe account we hope to:
- Handle travel and out-of-pocket expenses for medical treatment
- Supplement lost wages during treatment
- Cover out of pocket costs for clinical trials
- Cover expenses for additional treatments in conjunction with chemotherapy (i.e. immunotherapy, etc.)
To conquer this cancer, Conner needs a robust support system and the means to explore all alternatives. Your donations can help!
We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful community of family and friends, and hope you will help support this mission however you can through prayer and funding. All donations will go directly to Conner to cover treatment expenses. We believe that through acts of kindness, loving thoughts, and healing energy, miracles can happen!
On behalf of Conner’s fiancé, Nicole, the Jessup family, and his community of brothers and sisters, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support during this challenging time.
