FLIGHTS VOOS a bilingual short film by Alice Marcondes

Are you still Brazilian if you’re also American? What about the other way around? What if you speak Portuguese with an accent? What if Brazil is the only place people actually know how to say your name?
Dual citizenship is weird, and it gets weirder for Rafael and Renata after they lose the strongest ties to their heritage: Mamãe e Papai.
This bilingual short film written by Alice Marcondes explores grief, the complexities of having multiple identities and what constitutes a motherland.
After arriving at the airport for a flight to Brazil, Rafael and Renata realize they’ve forgotten the documents required to fly their parents’ ashes back to their native country. What follows is a negotiation flipping between Portuguese and English about where they belong in this new world.
With your contribution we’ll be able to pay a bunch of other dual-citizens, immigrants, and immensely talented artists to bring this story to life!
