Tour de Flip Flop
Donation protected
The Flip Flop Fund is a non-profit organization that provides shoes to underprivileged children in Laos. Laos is ranked by the UN as one of the Least Developed Countries in the world, a measure they hope to rise above by 2024. Families in rural areas have needs for even the most basic items like footwear. Children who do not have even the most basic and affordable footwear, like a pair of flip flops, can be exposed to injury and infection.
The Flip Flop Fund organization is raising money to provide a pair of shoes or flip flops to every child in Laos. On our first mission in 2016, we donated over 600 pairs of shoes. This new campaign is being done in connection with Greg McKenzie’s cycling trip from Hanoi, Vietnam to Bangkok, Thailand on a route through Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. He has designated The Flip Flop Fund as the non-profit that will receive the donations he collects in support of his ride. More information about the 2019 Tour de Flip Flop is available at https://www.flipflopfund.org/tour-de-flip-flop.html
The funds raised will be used to purchase footwear for children in Laos. We pledge that 100% of your donation will purchase children’s footwear. We did an initial distribution of some footwear in Ban Deua Village, Laos in November 2019 as part of the 2019 Tour de Flip Flop. We will use the funds from this campaign to purchase children's footwear on the next mission to Laos in 2020. A group of Flip Flop Fund supporters will travel to Laos in 2020. They are working to identify regions and villages in Laos where the need for children's footwear is the greatest. The funds raised will be used by the Flip Flop Fund team when they arrive in Laos to make a bulk purchase of footwear at the best possible prices. Purchasing the footwear locally will ensure they are acceptable sytle and type for the country and will also eliminate distribution costs of buying them outside the region where they will be donated. All travel, distribution and other costs will be paid personally by our family or other participants on our mission.
The Flip Flop Fund is not a registered charity and cannot provide donation tax receipts. We understand if this affects your ability to donate or the amount you are willing to donate. All funds raised will be held in a Canadian chartered bank CDIC insured savings account until they are required for use on the mission to Laos.
We appreciate any support you can provide.
