FLL Pup Patrol 6615 Trip To Worlds
Donation protected
"These 'PUPS' are in a PICKLE!!" A Brandon Elementary School 5th Grade Venture class needs your help to represent the great state of Mississippi at the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) World Championship in Houston, Texas, April 19-22, 2017. FIRST LEGO League teams from around the world undertake a two-part Challenge based on a real-world topic. Please consider helping the Pup Patrol get to the World Championship by making a donation!
Brandon Elementry School in Brandon, MS provides students an opportunity to participart in Venture, a program for gifted students. This program provides students with semester long hands-on projects. The 5th Grade Venture class was led by Mrs. Donna Mabus to participate in First Lego League's 2016 Challenge, Animal Allies, as rookies!
The teams researched different animal populations and problems related to them. One of our teams selected 'Pup Patrol' as team name because they wanted to crusade on behalf of dogs trapped in animal shelters. Because "They're kinda' in a pickle, 'Ya know!"
Pup Patrol identified an opportunity to help reduce the number of shelter dogs by helping the community spay and neuter their pets. Pup Patrol also designed, built, programed, and refined a robot capable of meeting the Animal Allies challenges. Many nights and weekends were spent polishing all aspects of Pup Patrol's presentations and 'Murphy', the team's robot.
Pup Patrol took their project, core values, and Murphy to district qualifier and won a trip to State Competition (4-Feb-2017).
Pup Patrol , no longer rookies, then set their sights on State competition. Pup Patrol decided to revamp Murphy to improve the inconsistencies observed during qualifiers. The team also addressed each of the recommendations made by the judges.
One month of hard work later, Pup Patrol attended the Mississippi FLL State Competition in Vicksburg, MS at the Convention Center . There they managed to win Over-All Champions.
Winning at State competition affords the team an opportunity to participate at FLL Worlds in Houston, Tx April 19-22, 2017. Wow! That is coming up fast!
This is where you can come along side of the Pup Patrol and help them compete at FLL Worlds. The team is already hard at work designing upgrades to Murphy, making 'I'm in a Pickle' Pickles, and improving their presentations demonstrating the core principles and their project. We know they can do it! All they need is a chance!
Pup Patrol needs to take a world class package to FLL Worlds! Brandon Elementary is already hard at work with fundraisers. The team parents are hard at work pulling together the details and fundraising by way of team sponsorships.
Our Brandon Elementary Parents and Teachers Organization (PTO) is helping with this GoFundMe campaign. Our GoFundMe campaign is controlled directly by the Brandon Elementary PTO and all funds are received by them to be disbursed in support of Pup Patrol . Funds will be used to purchase:
-->Improved costumes and props
-->Cucumbers, Jars, etc. for making the signature pickels to demonstrate the concept
-->A Pit tent so Pup Patrol can host events and have an area to work on Murphy, the robot
-->Travel expenses for Pup Patrol
If Pup Patrol is able to go to FLL Worlds, it will represent the first Mississippi public school at that level of FLL competition. This is an opportunity for Pup Patrol to meet and share their passion with the best FLL teams in the USA and the 40 participating countries. Your support will be greatly appreciated as we strengthen Mississippi Public Schools and Pup Patrol together!
