Get Aid to Flooded Communities in Myanmar 2024

Friends, Please join me in aiding flood victims in Myanmar. The already struggling country of Myanmar has been devastated by Typhoon Yagi, a category 5 storm that made landfall across southeast Asia in early September. Over 500 people have been killed, over 160,000 homes destroyed, and more than 300,000 people displaced. Flood waters have destroyed food supplies, livestock, and hundreds of thousands of acres of crops. Millions are without fresh drinking water.

The flood comes on top of a brutal civil war that has been raging for more than three years. The war has displaced more than 3 million people, devastated the economy, and drastically reduced food production. The UN warns that 18 million, one third of the population, need food aid. The flooding is set to make Myanmar’s already dire humanitarian situation worse. But together we can help.

People need food, medicine, safe drinking water, fuel, and materials for temporary shelters. Local charities and networks are responding, but the needs are enormous. I urge you to join me in supporting them. A little bit goes a long way. $25 buys 2 liters of cooking oil. $75 buys a 50 kg bag of rice, enough to feed a family of five for a month. $150 buys a temporary tarpaulin shelter for several families. Funds will go to Community Partners International, which works directly with organizations on the ground.
