Flood Recovery - Deven & Hillary
Donation protected
Deven and Hillary Kulkarni bought the only home they have ever owned in 2011 in Englewood, CO. Over the last 8 years, they invested as much time, sweat, and money as they could manage into making improvements, including a remodeled bathroom, new hardwood floors, and as recently as last month, a privacy fence.
On the evening of July 24th, 2018, Englewood experienced torrential rains, and water began pooling in areas that had never seen flooding. As the water began rapidly rising in their yard, Deven and Hillary began removing things from their basement. All of a sudden, massive amounts of water burst through the basement door, tearing the door off its hinges and rapidly flooding the basement. Hillary had to drop her wedding dress and run out of the basement in fear that they could drown.
The house flooded with water, and nearly all of their possessions were destroyed. The power has been cut to their entire house, and they cannot live there. They are still days, if not weeks, away from knowing if the entire house will be condemned due to the water damage.
This disaster could not have come at a worse time financially. Both Deven and Hillary were both laid off from their jobs in the last two months, with Deven losing his job the week before the flood. They are extremely grateful to have survived along with their beloved dog Cleo, but they face an enormous financial burden as they wait to find out if their house can even be saved. Any funds shared here will go to covering their immediate expenses related to securing shelter and determining what can be done with their house.
Thank you for considering to help these wonderful people in their time of need.
