Flood Recovery for Amber, Caleb and Shealee
Donation protected
On July 11, Montpelier suffered one of the most catastrophic floods in its history. Amber and her kids live in downtown Montpelier where the flooding was most severe. Thankfully Amber and her kids and their pets made it to safety.
Today they were informed that their apartment building is unsafe and they cannot go back. They were given an extremely short amount of time to go in and grab their most valuable possessions before the power and water were shut off and the building was locked. Amber and her kids will stay in her parent's living room for a couple of days while they secure temporary housing.
Amber, Caleb, Shealee, and their fur babies need financial assistance and our support securing temporary housing with utilities and hopefully also permanent housing. They will need beds, bedding and all of the other basic necessities. They will now need deposits and first and last month rent, utility deposits, gas money for commuting from their new place. These are extremely unexpected costs and not the type of things that insurance covers. Amber works at Hunger Mountain Co-op and will also need to continue to work while taking care of her family.
Please help us support of this family and help them to feel the stable ground of a community that cares for one another. They are emotionally and financially strained right now and need our help.
We will continue to update this page as things change and their needs become more clear.
